Barney joined the Colonel's regiment on Mission 9 9 Amsterdam. He would like it to be made clear that he is physically, not mentally, disabled, though he accepts that it can be difficult to tell with the wheelchair ones.
Barney's diplomatic immunity
This round was introduced in Mission 10 10 Zürich. The rules of Barney's diplomatic immunity round are quite simple.
At the start, it is determined whether diplomatic immunity will fall to anyone in the first place. There is ordinarily a 1 in 3 chance of this happening.
Should diplomatic immunity be in play, a Colonel's man present on the break is randomly selected to be given this privilege. They are given automatic passage through Kurt's veto round: no vetoes for their destination will be counted. Next, each time a destination is eliminated from the draw, it is determined whether diplomatic immunity is revoked.
The person who has diplomatic immunity must hold up their tile before every elimination and say, "Diplomatic Immunity" in a South African accent. Should they fail to do this, it is automatically revoked. The person playing the role of Barney must then draw a tile out of the bag. If the "revoked" tile is removed, the person playing Barney must rotate his head in a circular format (in the style of Danny Glover) and say, "It's just been revoked". The immune destination will be placed back in the hat. If the tile is blank, the blank tile is removed, we return to the actual draw and eliminate a destination. We then proceed to the next Diplomatic immunity round and go through the whole procedure again. This will carry on until "revoked" is drawn out or it is the only tile left in the bag. At this point, the immune destination will be automatically returned to the hat (with the two destinations that are left standing).
Diplomatic Immunity can, at best, get you passage through to the last 4. So, assuming there are 9 destinations in the hat (including the immune destination; the most likely scenario assuming no shafting, grossering or helping), the first immunity draw will contain 5 blank tiles and the tile which says "revoked".
Interaction with Gløgg
If Gløgg helps Barney, the odds of diplomatic immunity occurring are increased to 1 in 2.
If Gløgg bums Barney, the odds of diplomatic immunity occurring are reduced to 1 in 4.
